Legal and Compliance Trainee

Most legal teams focus on what you can’t do, ours empowers what you can. As Data Science Dojo launches Ejento AI, a RAG platform at the frontier of AI, you’ll help build the legal and compliance foundation that lets innovation move fast without breaking the rules.

As Data Science Dojo expands its AI education mission and scales Ejento, our RAG platform, security, privacy, and compliance are non-negotiable. We’re building a legal and compliance function that keeps pace with rapid innovation, protecting our platforms, people, and reputation. As a Legal and Compliance Trainee, you’ll help us stay ahead of risks and enable responsible growth across everything we do.

Your mission, should you choose to accept it:

  • Legal research & drafting: Conduct legal research and draft key documents to ensure compliance with laws and company policies.
  • Contract management: Prepare, draft, and review contracts, including vendor agreements, service contracts, NDAs, and employment contracts, for accuracy and legal soundness.
  • Certification & documentation: Assist in filing and managing business certifications and regulatory legal documentation.
  • Policy development: Support the creation and review of internal policies to align with legal and compliance requirements.
  • Legal correspondence: Draft and respond to legal notices, letters, and formal communications with clarity and professionalism.
  • Project execution: Execute assigned legal tasks and projects efficiently, meeting deadlines and regulatory guidelines.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with internal teams and external stakeholders to facilitate seamless legal operations and compliance.
  • Open-source compliance: Review and interpret open-source licenses (e.g., MIT, Apache 2.0, GPL) to ensure proper use and compliance.
  • Compliance tracking: Help maintain a compliance matrix or database tracking license obligations for open-source components.
  • Risk identification: Spot potential legal or intellectual property risks, like copyleft obligations, patent clauses, or attribution requirements.
  • Attribution & documentation: Prepare and review attribution notices, copyright statements, and other required documentation for company products.

The skills and expertise you bring:

  • Undergraduate degree in LLB or currently in the final year of LLB.
  • Strong understanding of legal drafting and contract structuring.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Proactive, enthusiastic, and eager to take on new challenges.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Willingness to work independently and within a team as per the task requirements.

 

Bonus Points:

  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks relevant to SaaS or AI platforms.
  • Exposure to open-source license management or software compliance.
  • Interest in AI, data science, or the legal challenges of emerging technologies.
