Joshua Starmer, PhD, is the creator of StatQuest with Josh Starmer, the YouTube channel that has made statistics, machine learning and AI approachable for a large global audience with clear, step-by-step explanations of topics such as principal component analysis and probability versus likelihood. He runs free live “Concepts and Code” lessons and teaches live machine learning courses that go from linear regression all the way to neural networks. He is a member of The RAG Pack (where his title is Chief Ukulele Strummer), the group of AI educators behind courses on reinforcement learning for LLMs and an Introduction to Agents course. Josh also writes and records songs and instrumental music that has been commissioned by dance companies, licensed for television commercials and featured in movies, and brings his signature silly songs to his lessons. He studied at North Carolina State University.
